Iago Peak

Length: 12 km

Elevation Gain: 658 m

Difficulty Level : Intermediate (Even in the Winter)

Iago Peak Hiking Trail is in the Coquihalla Summit Recreation Area. It’s on the exact opposite side of the highway from another hiking trail, Flatiron Peak. Iago is mellower than Flatiron in terms of steepness. However, trail markers are sparse on this trail. Hikers are recommended to bring their own offline maps, although cell signal is available throughout the trail.

In the Winter, you need to bring the Winter hiking essentials other than the general hiking 10 essentials, like microspikes, snowshoes, gaiters, and hiking poles. The final ascending to the peak is a little steep but nothing too technical or exposed. 360 degree views on the top. It’s windy and chilly on the top in the Winter therefore you need to layer up.

I heard that in the Summer the trail is overgrown with vegetation because of lacking of hikers. It’s a pity because the views in the Summer should be also beautiful and should be different than that of the Winter.
