Hiking Blackcomb Peak

Length: 10 km

Elevation Gain: 700 m

Difficulty Level: Intermediate (if no snow), Hard (if there is snow, just like I did in early July)

With the gondola ride, hiking to Blackcomb Peak is not as hard as it sounds like.

The first half of the trail is a mellow and wide ascending trail leading to Blackcomb Lake.

After that, I know there are two trails leading to the peak, One is from the west side and another is from the east side. I chose the east side.

Second Half of the trail (pretty much after Blackcomb Lake) involves scaling boulder and scree fields. Nothing too exposed. Watch your footing on the boulder fields. Watch your GPS closely. No trail markers what so ever after Blackcomb Lake.

Views on the peak are amazing.

Two weeks after the first hike….Blackcomb Lake was completely unfrozen. But circle lake is still half frozen.
