This page is dedicated to bald eagle. Every year during winter time, a large number of these birds is descending into southern British Columbia, Canada. The reason is that during winter, the rivers on their primary hunting grounds in northern British Columbia, and as far north as Alaska, are frozen. Because of the frozen river, they can’t catch their primary diet, Salmon. Therefore they migrate to Southern British Columbia where rivers are not frozen during winter. After winter, they go back to their familiar hunting ground.
Bald eagle used to be an endangered species. However their numbers started to recovered starting from the late 20th. In 2007, they were removed from the endangered list.
If you like birds of prey, you will enjoy photos of Hawks and Falcons on my web site as well.
