Photos of birds around Vancouver
This page contains photos of many local (small) birds. I took all the bird photos in parks and natural areas around Greater Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The region is rich in biodiversity, offering a variety of habitats for countless bird species — from coastal shorelines and wetlands to forests and urban parks. Birdwatching has become a passion of mine, and capturing these beautiful creatures in their natural environment has been both a rewarding and inspiring experience.
The majority of the birds featured here are native to this area, and I strive to highlight the unique charm and vibrant colors of each species through my photography. Some birds are common sights, like the cheerful American Goldfinch with its striking yellow feathers, while others, like the elusive Belted Kingfisher, require patience and a keen eye to spot. Whether it’s the high-pitched call of a Golden-crowned Kinglet or the powerful presence of a Bald Eagle soaring overhead, every bird encounter feels like a small adventure.
One of my favorite tools for birdwatching is eBird. It’s an incredible resource that allows bird enthusiasts to explore local birding hotspots and track recent sightings. With eBird, you can discover which species are currently active in specific locations, making it easier to plan a birdwatching trip. Additionally, eBird is a helpful guide for bird identification — a useful feature for both beginners and seasoned birders.
If you enjoy bird photos, you can check out some photos of other bird species/types, like American Goldfinch, Belted Kingfisher, Birds of Prey, Cedar Waxwing, Woodpeckers, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Bald Eagle, House Finch and Plum Flower, Hummingbird, Common Yellowthroat, Waterfowl and Large Birds, Red-winged Blackbird, Hawks, Herons, Bushtits, Snow Goose and Tree Swallow.
I have a list of 10 most beautiful birds in Vancouver. Beautiful Vancouver bird photos.
