Hiking Mount Thurston via Elk Mountain
Length: 15.38 km
Elevation Gain: 1,010 m
Difficulty Level: Hard (nothing technical, most of the elevation gain is ascending to Elk. It’s a bit long.)
You can hike to Mount Thurston via Elk Mountain. The trail to ELK is a bit steep, but nothing technical. Elk to Thurston is mild. The trail from Elk to Thurston may be overgrown because of lack of foot traffic.
There is almost no water source all the way except maybe a trickle of water at 1 km from the trailhead. Bring enough water and sun protection because you will expose to the Sun from time to time, especially Elk to Thurston.
There is no view at Thurston. But if you follow the trail to Mount Mercer for another 300 m from Thurston, you will have nice views of Cheam range.
