Arashiyama (嵐山) is a district 20-minute-train-ride from Kyoto. It is a popular destination due to its nature settings, bamboo groves, river and mountains. There is also a preserved town area away from the town center (around the train station) where you have to take a taxi or rent a bicycle to get to. Because of the location of the preserved town area, not many tourists visit that part of the town.
The most famous attraction of Arashiyama is its bamboo groves. It’s about a 15-minutes walk from the train station. Talking about train station, there is a Kimono forest at the Arashiyama station. There is also the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge. Togetsukyo Bridge with a back drop of mountains is a beautiful sight to see, especially during the fall season.
