Belted Kingfisher
Belted Kingfisher is a bird that lives in this area (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) year long. The ones with chestnut color breast band are female. The ones with blue-gray chest band are male. They are skittish birds therefore it’s hard to photograph them from close by. They make a rattling sound when flying between branches. That’s one way how I find out a Belted Kingfisher is near by.
